Music/podcasts/audiobooks while backpacking?

PostPosted by jackystraw on Mon Apr 21, 2008 7:49 pm

I love listening to music or a good book on my ipod while backpacking. I bought a nice iPod Nano a year ago, and I love it! I mean come on. Everyone knows that looking at the ground for hours, days, or weeks can just be dang boring. I just on my headphones, and listen to some good 70s or 80s music, or the latest audiobook.

Anyone else enjoy this? I know it doesn't sound like a good idea. But once you start doing it, you'll like it. Trust me. It's not as bad as it sounds.

And you don't even have to buy anexpensive ipod, just get a cheap mp3 player, just make sure it is small enough and light enough for backpacking.

You don't need music and things to ruin the outdoors. There isn't anything wrong with hiking and just listening to nature and just thinking. I go backpacking to get away from the world and technology and enjoy what God has given us.
Thanks.

Never tried it before, but I'll have to get out my ipod, dust it off, and bring it next time!

I agree with heliskiYT. The reason I backpack is to get away from the clutter of the world.

I love my trance music and sometimes do find myself listening to it when I am up in the mountains, but it is nice to just take in all the water trickling, leaves rustling, and the birds and other animals talking nearby.

I don't listen to a lot of trance or techno music, but it seems like if anything that would be the last kind of music I would want to listen to in the mountains.

I bring a good book and an ipod when I'm backpacking, just for those moments where there is nothing else to do.
