Fuel for Kalalau Trail

Does anyone know if there is a place on Kauai to buy fuel canisters? I'm afraid that i might not be allowed to put one in my pack and check it in on a flight from Chicago. Any information is appreciated!

Michal:

I had the same problem to. I don't think they allow backpacking fuel canisters on the planes now, so I had to buy mine in Lihue. It was awhile ago that I backpacking Kalalau, so honstestly I don't remember what store I got it from, but I do remember it was in Lihue. It was just a little store off the main highway there in town. Sorry! Good luck and I hope you have a great time!

Thats exactly what I did. And like snowwhite, I forgot where I bought mine too! But obviously there are many places you can get backpacking fuel. Hope you can find them in Kauai, because the airlines definitely don't allow backpacking stove fuel even if you say you are really just going backpacking!
