I wanted to get into snowshoes a bit, but really didn't want to pay the outrageous costs for them. The friend that made me want to try snowshoeing jokingly told me to make my own if I didn't want to buy some. I looked into it! I found this pretty good site with good instructions on how to build my own pair! They turned out pretty good and they worked great! Unfortunately after that winter, I lost interest and haven't used them since. Unless you are serious about getting into it and willing to pay the money (everyone knows that I'm a cheap person!), then I'd go for making your own. It wasn't too challenging. I looked for the website I used but couldn't find it. If I come across it I'll give you a shout! Good luck!

Found the site: http://www.geocities.com/otc_scouts/shoes.html. At least I'm pretty sure that was it. If you aren't up for making your own and don't want to buy new ones, then post a thread in the Classified section of this forum and see if anyone has some they'd sell, or even better give, to you!

That is awesome, thanks for finding that site for me! I am not sure I would trust my work though. I am mostly looking into picking some snowshoes up because the search and rescue team that I am applying for requires their team members to own a pair.
